great for a southerner other than they close at 9pm local. gravel lot at 11pm is empty easy access. coffee and breakfast in the am 5:30-9:00pm. great staff but hot water would be appreciated in the bathroom

On first glance this is nothing more than a big gravel lot, but it's right next door to a coffee shop/gas station with clean bathrooms, the coffee shop serves very tasty food (including vegan options), there is a family dollar directly across the street and a Raley's grocery about a block down, there is a little sports complex for the high school next door with grass for my fussy dog to use (no poo bags provided so don't forget them), and there's even a stargazing park close by. Plus because we're up the pass a ways it's about 30° cooler and the breeze is pretty constant, cooling it down even more. this place is fantastic :) One small warning: there are two entrances to the dirt lot: an east next to a billboard and west closer to the Chevron; use the east entrance, especially if you are low to the ground, as there are a couple large ruts in the west entrance that one of the staff at the Chevron said had caused trucks to high-center in the past.
