FAQ
Choosing a Truck Navigation App
What is the best truck navigation app?
That depends on what goes wrong in your week. If you lose time finding parking, you want an app with availability reported by drivers already in the lot. If you lose money on tolls and fuel, you want one that prices each route before you set off. If your problem is inside the shipper's gate, an app with facility detail helps more. These pages compare Trucker Path against each alternative on those specific grounds, quoting each one's own published material, so you can match the app to your own problem rather than to a star rating.
Do car map apps work for trucks?
Not for routing. Neither Google Maps nor Waze has a field for height, weight, length or load class, so neither can keep a 13 foot 6 trailer out from under a low bridge or off a road posted against trucks. Each page below goes through what that company publishes about its own travel modes.
Is Trucker Path free?
Yes. It is free to download on iOS and Android with ads and no time limit, not a trial, and the free version carries the truck stop map, parking availability, weigh station open or closed status and diesel prices. Turn-by-turn navigation along the route is on a paid plan, as are several other features.
Is Trucker Path worth paying for?
That turns on whether turn-by-turn navigation, parking predictions, fuel planning across a whole run, trips with more than three stops and CarPlay are worth a plan to you. Everything listed above stays free without one.
How are these comparisons sourced?
Every statement about another product is quoted from that company's own published material — their website, their app store listing or their own comparison article — with the source and the date it was read. A dash in a table means the feature is not described in that material, which is not the same as saying the product cannot do it. If we have something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
