Less than 30 spot's.
One thing I constantly notice in almost all of the Pilots or Flying J truck stops I try to visit is their actual parking spaces, versus what they claim to have. Count them for yourself easily here. The Pilot App and their brochures seem to always claim over 40% more truck parking spaces than they actually have. Here, you can easily count 32 spaces. Yet they claim 50. This is only one example of all of them. Add them up nationwide and we are seriously short of available parking spaces as commercial drivers. I will be posting the same about other PFJ stops as well. Several years ago I asked a manager at the fuel desk himself about this and asked him to show me the 68 spots they claimed. I pointed to his single row of spots and said there are 36. He just gave a huge closed mouth smile and did not say a word. Yes they know it. Important. Why? The DOT and Feds monitor available parking for us nationwide and use that to determine need for rest areas, truck pull offs, hours of service, and much much more! Truck stop chains list their available parking which the authorities use in calculating available commercial parking. Why is there such a shortage of parking for us nationwide? Because as far as Congress and the DOT are concerned, we have much more parking available than we actually do have. Due to PFJ alone over listing their spaces. Which they ALSO charge $15-20 a night to park in. How is this not a major fraud.
