Learn MoreThe short answer
Does Waze Have a Truck Mode?
No. Trucker Path plans around your truck profile. Waze has no truck mode. Both apps draw on driver reports — the difference is whose needs those reports answer.
- Plan around your height, width, weight and load
- Check truck parking, stops and diesel prices
- Use reports from the drivers already there
Free to download, with ads and no time limit. Turn-by-turn navigation requires a paid plan.

Same Idea. A Different Driver Crowd.
Waze asks drivers what is happening on the road. Trucker Path brings truck drivers’ reports into the route, the stop and the end of the day.

Beyond the road ahead
Waze reports potholes, speed bumps, objects on the road, sharp curves and bad weather. A truck trip also needs suitable stops and services. Trucker Path brings those places together on a truck-focused map.

A truck crowd reports the parking lot
Drivers report whether a lot has room while they are sitting in it. Parking Predictions help with the stop you are still hours from — so parking can be part of the plan before your day ends.

And what the diesel actually cost
Compare diesel prices reported by drivers filling up. Buy through the app on the 10-4 by WEX fuel network for discounts at participating locations, with no credit check and no fee to join.
Official sources and comparison scope
iOS listings reviewed October 13, 2026. Waze lists traffic, road hazards, fuel and parking features, and says its navigation is not intended for oversized vehicles. Truck-specific routing is a separate requirement. App features and paid-plan access can change.

FAQ
Waze, Trucks and What Drivers Ask
Does Waze have a truck mode?
No. Waze has no truck profile and no way to enter a height, a weight, a length or a load class, so it cannot keep you off a low bridge or a road posted against trucks. The word truck does not appear anywhere in the Waze App Store description, which runs to more than a thousand words of feature copy. For a route planned around the rig, drivers use a truck navigation app; Trucker Path is free to download on iOS and Android.
Does Waze have truck routes?
No. Waze routes as a car and reroutes around traffic as a car. It does not hold the clearance of a bridge against the height of your trailer, and it has no layer for truck stops, truck parking, scale houses or diesel prices. Trucker Path does all of that and applies eleven hazmat load classes to the route as well.
How do I set Waze for a truck route?
There is no setting to switch on. Some drivers try to approximate one with avoid highways or avoid tolls, but neither of those knows your gross weight or your clearance, so neither can plan around a posted restriction. In Trucker Path the truck profile is set once — height, width, weight, type — and every route after that is built around it.
Both apps are crowdsourced. What is the difference?
Whose crowd it is. Waze describes itself as a live map that harnesses the local knowledge of tens of millions of drivers, and the hazards its listing names are the ones a car cares about: potholes, speed bumps, objects on the road, bad weather. Trucker Path is reported by over a million truck drivers, so what comes in is whether a lot still has room, whether a scale house is open or closed, what diesel cost at the pump an hour ago, and what the shower block at that stop is actually like.
Is Waze the same as Google Maps?
They are separate apps, and neither offers a truck mode: Google Maps publishes its travel modes as driving, public transit, walking, ride sharing, cycling, flight and motorcycle, and Waze does not mention trucks at all. If you have already tried one for a load, the other will route you the same way.
Can Waze avoid low bridges?
Not by height, because it never asks for your height. Low clearance routing needs the clearance of the structure and the height of your rig, compared before the line is drawn. Trucker Path takes the truck profile and raises low clearance warnings along the route and in trip planning.
Is there a free alternative to Waze for truckers?
Yes. Trucker Path is free to download on iOS and Android with no time limit, and the route it plans is built around your truck height, width, weight and type — seeing it costs nothing. It also carries more than 500,000 truck stops across the USA and Canada, parking availability reported by drivers already parked, weigh station open or closed status, and diesel prices from drivers filling up. Turn-by-turn navigation is on a paid plan.
Should I run both?
Plenty of drivers do. Waze is good at what a car needs from a road, and there is nothing to stop you keeping it. Run a truck app for the route, the stops and the parking, because those are the parts a car map was never asked to answer.
